LactoSpore® spore probiotic vs gummy: why the spore matters
Why Keel uses 166 mg Bacillus coagulans as a spore — it actually arrives. How gummies, yoghurt cultures and the spore differ, and why daily survivability is the job.
Probiotics are sold as counts. Survivability matters more than the count.
Keel's probiotic is LactoSpore® Bacillus coagulans, 166 mg — a spore — because the spore is the only form designed to actually arrive.
The problem with most probiotics on the way down
A yoghurt culture has to survive a trip that wants to kill it:
- Your stomach acid.
- Your bile.
- The enzymes that sit between bite and bowel.
That is why many counts on front labels are billions at manufacture and far fewer by the time the culture meets your gut.
A gummy adds sugar and heat sensitivity on top.
What a spore does differently
A spore lives as a tough, dormant shell. It passes the acid largely intact, then germinates where it is useful — further down. That is why the delivery, not just the strain name, is part of the claim.
Keel pairs the spore with DigeZyme® + bromelain (enzymes that help you get more from less food) and the botanical comfort pair ginger + peppermint — so less goes in, more is extracted, and the stomach feels less punished for it.
How much
166 mg LactoSpore® Bacillus coagulans — printed on the label, same as every other line. No proprietary blend. No "billion CFU*" with the asterisk doing the work.
What the habit will not do
It will not undo a day. It is a daily dot product, not a purge. If a probiotic promises a 48-hour reset, it is selling a feeling, not a habit.
If you want that survivability as part of the whole habit: Keel — two caps a day, with food. Same bottle as the iron/B12/folate/Zinc lane.
If you want to read about the enzymes that do the cut, not the ferry: Ginger + peppermint when your appetite does something new

FAQ
Is LactoSpore® vegan? The capsule format for Keel is hypromellose. The strain itself is not inherently animal-derived; the bottle's capsule and excipients are what make the product's vegetarian/vegan status. Check the Other ingredients line on the label.
Will I feel it the next morning? Probably not as a moment. Steadiness over weeks is the expected story.
Should I still eat fermented foods? Yes — yoghurt, kefir and kimchi are food first. A spore is a habit, not a replacement.
Eating less on a GLP-1? The nutrient gaps that show up first
Appetite drops, portions shrink, and the multivitamin you took with breakfast may no longer cut it. Which vitamins people run low on during GLP-1 use, why absorption shifts, and what a single daily habit can sensibly cover.
