How we write what we publish
Health content is only worth reading if you can check it. This page is the whole method: where the facts come from, who writes them, what we refuse to claim, and what happens when we get something wrong.
Who writes it
R. Kessler founded Knurle and writes the research notes on this site. The pen name is deliberate: the writing stands on the sources it cites rather than on a personality, and the person behind it would rather stay out of the frame. The company, the address and the way to reach a human are all published on the about page, which is the part that matters.
Where the facts come from
Every claim about health, research or medication on this site comes from one of these, and only these:
- Peer-reviewed studies, linked to their PubMed record.
- National and institutional health bodies: NIH, NHS, CDC, FDA, EFSA, NIDDK, the National Academies.
- Academic medical centres, for general explainers.
Commercial blogs, supplement retailers and other brands are never used as a source. If a claim cannot be traced to one of the three categories above, it does not go on the site.
How a claim is cited
Inline, at the point the claim is made, as a link to the source. Not a numbered reference at the bottom, not a vague “studies show”. If you can read a sentence and not tell what it rests on, that is a bug, and we want to hear about it.
A review is described as a review. A single trial in one group is not described as proof for everyone. A null result is reported as a null result, including when it is about an ingredient we sell, which happens more often than the industry tends to admit.
What we will not claim
- That a supplement diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any disease. That is the law, and it is also the line we would keep anyway.
- That a supplement is a substitute for a medication, or that it works alongside one in any specific way. The content here is about nutrition while taking a medication. It never says a Knurle product supports, treats or works with a drug.
- That a study found something it did not. Every number on this site is checked against the text of the source it is linked to. When a source does not print a figure, the figure does not appear.
- That a review by a named professional exists when it does not. There is no medical reviewer byline on this site, and there will not be one until a real, credentialed person has actually read the piece.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, email hello@knurle.com and say which page and which sentence. We will check it against the source, fix it if it is wrong, and note the correction on the page. A correction is not an embarrassment; a wrong page left standing is.
What this content is not
It is not medical advice, and reading it does not create a relationship with a clinician. If you are pregnant, nursing, under 18, managing a medical condition, or taking prescription medicine, talk to your doctor before adding anything new to your shelf, ours included.
Where the products come from
All three products are made by our fulfilment partner, Supliful, in FDA-registered facilities in the United States, under cGMP. Every batch carries a Certificate of Analysis, available on request. The full detail, including how to ask for the one on your bottle, is on the testing page.
*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
See the lab reports.
Every batch is tested. Ask for the Certificate of Analysis that matches your bottle and we will send it.
