What this actually is

Moat is one small bottle doing the job of four. Vitamin C, D3, zinc and elderberry usually live in four separate tubs at the back of a cupboard, quietly going out of date. Here they are in two capsules a day, with every milligram printed on the label.

Nine things are in it and each has something to do. Vitamin D3 and zinc do the steady structural work. Vitamin C, vitamin E and citrus bioflavonoids bring the antioxidant support. Vitamin B6 rounds out the nutrients, and elderberry, echinacea and L-lysine round out the rest.*

Take two with a glass of water, roughly whenever you take everything else. Day to day you will most likely feel nothing much at all, which is rather the charm of a daily supplement: turning up is the whole trick.*

Where it is made

Made in the United States in an FDA-registered, GMP-certified facility, then packed and posted from Arvada, Colorado. The address on the label is ours, and there is usually a dog in the building.

The short version

Twenty seconds, one capsule with a face.

Pip walks through what is in the bottle and how much of it, straight off the label. Sound is off until you tap it, which we think is only polite.

Per two-capsule serving

Here it is, drawn to scale.

Every dose drawn to scale against the biggest one in the bottle. The five above the line have an official Daily Value. The four below do not, which is paperwork rather than mystery.

Ingredient, per 2 caps% Daily Value
Plus, no daily value

** Daily Value not established. Other ingredients: gelatin (capsule), brown rice flour.

How to take it.

No loading phase, no cycling, no chart on the fridge. Two capsules and a glass of water.

Step one

Two capsules, one glass of water

Six to eight ounces does it. Food helps the D3 and E along.

Step two

Same time, most days

Pin it to the kettle or the morning coffee. Turning up is the whole trick.

Step three

Somewhere cool and dry

Not the bathroom. Skip it if the seal is broken. Keep out of reach of children.

Replaced 4 separate bottles on my counter!

I used to take separate vitamin C, D3, zinc picolinate, and elderberry gummies every single morning. MOAT consolidates everything into two daily capsules with zero hassle. My supplement drawer is finally decluttered, and the ingredient balance is spot on.

P-5-P active B6 and Zinc Citrate show serious formulation thought

As someone who checks supplement labels rigorously, I was thrilled to see pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (P-5-P) for B6 and zinc citrate instead of cheap pyridoxine HCl and zinc oxide. The 500mg elderberry extract combined with bioflavonoids provides genuine synergy.

Essential companion for frequent business travel

I fly domestically twice a week and spend countless hours in airports and crowded train carriages. Keeping MOAT in my carry-on has become my non-negotiable routine. Two capsules with breakfast water and I feel well-defended against travel fatigue.

A kindergarten teacher's daily armor

Working in a classroom with thirty 5-year-olds means you are exposed to every cough and sneeze imaginable. I've taken MOAT consistently for three months throughout the fall semester and have maintained my energy and wellness straight through. Highly recommend.

Zero herbal burps or synthetic aftertaste

Many botanical blends give me unpleasant herbal repeating or acid reflux but MOAT goes down smooth with zero aftertaste. The capsules are easy to swallow with a standard glass of water.

Clean formulation without synthetic excipients

Love that Knurle uses brown rice flour instead of magnesium stearate, artificial colorings, or titanium dioxide. It feels like a clean, pure product manufactured to high standards in the USA.

Elderberry benefits without 15g of gummy sugar

I wanted the immune benefits of Sambucus nigra elderberry, but couldn't stand the sugar and syrups in commercial elderberry gummies. MOAT delivers a full 500mg extract in pure capsule form without adding empty calories.

Consistent defense for night shift healthcare workers

Working 12-hour rotating night shifts in the hospital wrecks your circadian rhythm and immune reserves. Taking MOAT with my first meal of the shift keeps my daily nutrient base covered effortlessly.

Great addition of L-Lysine and citrus bioflavonoids

Most immune blends only include Vitamin C and Zinc. The addition of 100mg L-Lysine and citrus bioflavonoids makes a real difference when managing daily stress and cellular defense. Thoughtful formulation.

Smooth capsules, no horse pills here

I normally struggle with swallowing large multivitamin tablets but these two standard-sized gelatin capsules go down very easily with water. No dry throat or sticking.

Household staple for the entire winter season

Both my husband and I take two capsules every morning alongside our breakfast. We used to catch whatever was going around the office but staying consistent with MOAT has kept us feeling resilient all season.

Keeps me healthy through grueling marathon training blocks

When running 60+ miles a week your body is under heavy physical stress and your immune system can dip. Adding MOAT to my morning recovery stack has kept me consistent and training without unexpected interruptions.

Calculated the savings vs buying individual bottles

If you buy standardized elderberry extract, echinacea, zinc citrate, D3, and buffered vitamin C separately, you easily spend $50-$60 a month. MOAT gives you the exact dosages in one bottle at a fraction of the cost and clutter.

Arrived sealed, fresh, and on time

Tight safety seal under the cap, dark bottle to protect the botanical extracts from light oxidation, and fresh herbal aroma upon opening. Very professional quality.

Great blend, just be sure to take it with a meal!

The formulation is excellent, but because it contains 11mg of zinc citrate, taking it on a completely empty stomach with just black coffee caused a mild flutter in my stomach. Once I started taking it with scrambled eggs and toast, zero issues.

Works great, wish they offered a 120-capsule bulk bottle

The 60-capsule bottle is a standard 30-day supply (2 capsules per day). I would love to see a 2-month or 3-month family size tub so I don't have to reorder every 4 weeks.

Distinct herbal elderberry scent, but easy to swallow

When you first open the bottle there is a noticeable earthy, botanical aroma from the elderberry and echinacea extracts. It's not bad at all—in fact it proves real herbs are inside—just something to be aware of.

Solid comprehensive daily defense

Make sure you read the label carefully: the serving size is 2 capsules daily, not 1. I took 1 a day for the first week before realizing. Now on the full 2-capsule serving and feeling great.

Kept me going through a dreary wet Pacific Northwest winter

Living in the Pacific Northwest means zero sunlight and constant rain from November to March. The 40mcg (1600 IU) Vitamin D3 plus elderberry was exactly what my daily regimen needed.

High quality ingredients, slightly premium pricing

It costs a little more than generic supermarket multivitamins, but considering you get standardized 500mg elderberry and P-5-P active B6, the value is definitely justified.

Balanced dosing without dangerous mega-doses

I appreciate that Knurle kept zinc at 11mg (100% DV) and Vitamin C at 180mg rather than insane mega-doses (like 50mg zinc or 2000mg C) that upset your stomach and deplete copper levels. Smart, balanced science.

Dependable formula, takes a couple weeks of consistency

This is a daily maintenance formula, not an overnight silver bullet. After two to three weeks of steady daily use, I noticed feeling more resilient and less fatigued during seasonal shifts.

Great ingredients, but gelatin capsule means not vegan

The formula itself is top notch, but my daughter is strictly plant-based and couldn't take it because the capsule shell is bovine/porcine gelatin. Would love to see Knurle switch to a vegetarian cellulose or pullulan capsule.

Good everyday support, but don't expect an instant cure

I bought this while I was already midway through a heavy head cold hoping it would stop it in its tracks. It didn't do much for active symptoms, but reading the label it's clearly designed for proactive daily maintenance rather than acute treatment.

The studies behind it.

Four papers worth knowing about, written up in plain English. They test the ingredients rather than this exact bottle, and where that difference matters we have said so.

01

Elderberry went on holiday

Researchers gave 312 people flying economy out of Australia either a standardised elderberry extract or a placebo, and nobody knew which. Roughly the same number of people got sick either way. But the elderberry group who did get sick were over it sooner, and had an easier time of it.

How strong3/5

The catchSo: shorter and gentler, not a force field. It did not stop anyone catching anything.

02

Vitamin D is the quiet overachiever

This is the strongest evidence in the whole formula, and it is not close. Researchers pooled the individual data from 25 randomised, double-blind trials covering nearly 11,000 people. Daily or weekly vitamin D lowered the risk of respiratory infection, and it helped most in the people who were short on it to begin with.

How strong5/5

The catchDaily worked. One giant occasional dose did not. Which is exactly why this is a small daily capsule.

03

Vitamin C, and what it is good for

A Cochrane review gathered decades of placebo-controlled trials, 29 comparisons and more than 11,000 people. Taking vitamin C regularly did not change how often people got sick. It did reliably, if modestly, shorten things once they had.

How strong4/5

The catchSo it is the friend who turns up with soup, not the one who stops you catching anything. Nice to have in the cupboard either way.

04

Zinc, at the everyday size

Zinc turns up in a remarkable number of jobs around the body, from immune cells to how food tastes. Moat carries 11 mg of zinc citrate, which is the everyday nutritional amount rather than the very large short-term doses used in throat lozenge research.

How strong3/5

The catchOne hundred percent of the Daily Value, in a capsule you swallow with water. Steady company rather than a big night out.

Things people ask.

01When should I take Moat?

Two capsules a day with a glass of water. Morning with breakfast is easiest, and food helps you absorb D3 and E. Consistency matters more than exact timing.

02How soon will I feel something?

Nothing dramatic, and that is rather the charm of it. Vitamin D moves over weeks rather than minutes, so it is more like topping up the tank than flooring the accelerator.

03Can I take Moat with my other supplements?

Usually yes, just add up the totals. If you already take a multivitamin you may double zinc and vitamin C, and if you take separate D3 check the combined amount. Everything you need is printed on our label.

04Is Moat vegetarian?

No. The capsule is bovine and porcine gelatin. A veggie capsule is on our list.

05Should anyone skip it?

Check with your clinician if pregnant, nursing, under 18, or managing a condition or prescription, because zinc and vitamin C can interact with a few medicines. Two-minute chat beats a guess.

06What is actually in Moat, and how much of each?

Vitamin C 180 mg, vitamin D3 40 mcg, vitamin E 15 mg, vitamin B6 1.7 mg, zinc 11 mg, elderberry extract 500 mg, echinacea 200 mg, citrus bioflavonoids 100 mg and L-Lysine 100 mg, in a two-capsule serving. Every one of them shows its own milligrams and its % Daily Value on the label.
